VPAN would like to say how deeply we appreciate the Newmarket Celebrates the Arts program. We have applied for several grants over the years and have always been fortunate that our applications have been favourably received.

This year, our 20th anniversary season, we received two grants: one for this first concert of our anniversary year featuring Quartetto Gelato, and one for our Young Artists’ Showcase on February 5, 2017.

Many thanks to Newmarket Celebrates the Arts!

May 1 2016: A stunning, funny and pianistic afternoon was spent with the wonderful Fung-Chiu Piano Duo

So much versatility, speed and ebullience from this exciting duo on the world stage. How wonderful to hear the classics infused with modern themes and melodies, making for a simply delightful concert by the two gifted artists.

Following the 2:00 - 4:00 PM concert in the Newmarket Theater, the Fung-Chiu Duo also conducted a Masterclass - see Photos below - to our highly engaged up and-coming new talent in our region.

Wouldn't it be grand if the newly-refurbished Old Town Hall had a brand new GRAND PIANO? Any musical concert held there will need one, and space has been allocated for it. What we need are funds to buy one. Erika Kerwin, a member of Visual & Performing Arts Newmarket and the Newmarket Arts Council, has been authorized by the Town to raise funds for a new grand piano for this venue.

The aim is to raise $30,000. Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt; donations of $250 or more will buy a piano key with the donor's name on it, which will be displayed on a plaque in the Old Town Hall.

Cheques should be made payable to the Town of Newmarket with clear designation of Old Town Hall Piano Fund. Donations and inquiries should be directed to Erika Kerwin at 317 Maple Street, Newmarket, ON L3Y 3K3 (905-895-8969).

    88 keys, if you please!

    white keys, black keys—88 please!

Have you ever looked at VPAN's website? In the past, you may have been disappointed if you have, but not any longer. Our website has been updated and upgraded with more information and up-to-date notices.

March 6, 2016: It was a delight to have renowned clarinetist James Campbell to perform at the Newmarket Theatre, with the Afiara String Quartet and with his son, guitarist/composer Graham Campbell - such spirited chamber pieces and selections, richly infused with the sound of jazz.
