Young Artists' Showcase 2017

This concert features the following young, gifted performers from the region.



Jake Runeckles,

Actor

A George Brown Theater School actor, graduating in 2017, Jake Runeckles, has performed in various productions at George Brown Theatre, Toronto Fringe and Wavestage Theatre. 

An accomplished musician and dancer as well, Jake will perform a one-person theatrical montage about Newmarket, one-man show that will leave the audience reflecting on their hometown.

Gregory Vandikas, Classical Pianist

Currently studying the piano with Dr. Michael Esch,Gregory is working on completing his Associate Diploma in April 2017.  He also plays the cello, saxophone and bassoon.  He has been a featured performer and scholarship recipient in several piano competitions and gala concerts, including the North York Festival Association, the ORMTA GTA Zone and Competitions and both Ontario and Canadian Competitions to name a few. Gregory has been invited to perform this February at Carnegie Hall after winning his age  group at the Crescendo International Piano Competition.

Katerina Utochkina,
Vocalist

Mezzo-soprano Katerina Utochkina made her professional debut with Toronto Operetta Theatre in the role of Gretchen in The Student Prince. Ms Utochkina has performed some notable roles, including La Marquise de Berkenfield in La Fille du Regiment with Vera Causa Opera, Zita in Gianni Schicchi and Sour Osmina in Suor Angelica with the Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Erika in Vanessa with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre. Ms Utochkina is a graduate of the Performance Diploma Program at The Glenn Gould School.

The Irish Dance Studio


In 1996, Scoil Rince O'Ceallaigh and Scoil Rince Ni Fhearraigh joined forces to introduce The Irish Dance Studio to the York Region area. The directors, Yvonne Kelly and Joanne Vanderloo, have been involved in Irish dance since their early years of competing and then teaching in their own studios. 

Combined, they have been teaching Irish dancing for more than 50 years and have produced champions in Canada and the Mid-West United States, as well as North American, All Ireland and World Champion Medal Holders.
